Coco Coir Growing Media Compared: Mother Earth vs Botanicare ReadyGro vs Char Coir Cubes, Price per Cubic Foot

Coco Coir Growing Media Compared: Mother Earth vs Botanicare ReadyGro vs Char Coir Cubes, Price per Cubic Foot

Coco is sold by the bag, the pallet, the brick and the cube, and none of them are the same size. The one number that lines them up is the price per cubic foot.

This guide converts the coco growing media in our live catalog to price per cubic foot, and says where the listings are silent. We left out the nutrient lines and the grow bags, because they aren't media.

The 30-Second Answer

Cheapest: Mother Earth Coco at $7.92 per cubic foot, then Mother Earth Coco + Perlite at $8.19. The blended mixes: Botanicare ReadyGro Aeration at $14.77 and Moisture at $15.75. The cubes: Char Coir at about $27.07, because you are paying for the format. The catch: the Mother Earth title says pallet quantity only, so confirm the minimum order.

What You Are Paying For

The two Mother Earth listings are the plain bulk option. The Coco is $7.92 per cubic foot and the Coco + Perlite is $8.19, so the perlite adds about $0.27 per cubic foot. Neither listing gives a perlite ratio, pH or EC. ReadyGro Aeration costs $14.77 per cubic foot and is described as roughly 55% coir and 45% perlite with natural and organic-based inputs and a yucca wetting agent. That is about 6.58 dollars a cubic foot more than the Mother Earth blend, and the listing doesn't say how much of that is the added inputs. ReadyGro Moisture is $15.75.

Our habit: we don't claim a coco is buffered, washed or low in salt unless the listing says so. Ask us what the supplier reports.

Where Bulk Doesn't Save You Money

The half truckload of ReadyGro Aeration, 1,251.25 cubic feet for $18,475.60, works out to $14.77 per cubic foot, the same as the pallet. Moisture is $15.75 either way. If you are buying that much, the savings, if any, are in freight, which the listings don't state.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which coco is cheapest per cubic foot?

On listing price, Mother Earth Coco at $14.26 per 1.8 cubic foot bag is lowest at $7.92 per cubic foot. Mother Earth Coco + Perlite is $8.19, and Botanicare ReadyGro is $14.77 to $15.75.

Is the Mother Earth price per bag or per pallet?

The listing price is $14.26 for a 1.8 cubic foot unit, and the title says "65/pal Pal Qty Only". We read that as a per-bag price sold by the pallet of 65. Confirm the minimum order and freight with us before you order.

What is the difference between ReadyGro Aeration and Moisture?

The Aeration listing describes about 55% coir and 45% perlite, made for frequent watering programs. It says the Moisture formula has less perlite. The listings don't give the Moisture blend ratio, so ask us if it matters.

Does the half truckload save money?

Not on the listings. The half truckload of ReadyGro Aeration works out to $14.77 per cubic foot, the same as the pallet, and Moisture to $15.75. Ask us about freight, since that is where bulk orders differ.

Why are the Char Coir cubes so much higher per cubic foot?

They are a different product. The listing is a case of 32 RHP certified cubes at 2.25 liters each, about 2.5 cubic feet in total, so the price covers a ready-to-use format and not bulk media.

Do the listings give pH, EC or buffering?

No. The Mother Earth listings don't, and the ReadyGro listing says very low salt content without numbers. If coco preparation matters to you, ask us what the supplier reports.

Is the price I see the price I will pay?

These are the prices on our product pages. Freight isn't stated in the listings, and bulk media is heavy, so ask about shipping.

This article is general information, not agronomic advice. Volumes and blends come from the live product listings. Prices and stock reflect ModernFarms' live catalog as of November 5, 2026. We don't upsell, and we'd rather you buy the media your watering program needs than the most expensive blend.
